(FIlm review) The Dark Night Rises

Like many people, i was thinking, how can you top the joker in the Dark Night, thats going to grow into icon status in years to come.  To be fair, i give huge credit for Chistopher Noel for releasing some fine batman films that was very much needed and just amazing to watch.  I have not seen many new films recently and the so called trilogy, which is a load of rubbish, unless its going to be called the Noelan Trilogy as aparantly he hs stepping down.  There are going to be more Batmans.

The Dark Night Rises, completes a story cycle, with some great twists, awsome weaponry, which has never been shown and again a great cast.  I like the way Noelen used many of the cast from Inception, mixed with the basic cast of batman and new cast members.  He reminds me of Quentin Taratino here, he has a touch that no one else has

Bane is in this one and i thought, what are they going to do.  On the surface its a mixture of The Dark night and Batman begins in regards to storyline and locations and Waynes former teacher returns briefly as part of the story, which was really thought out
With the Dark Night, the storyline was taken from a 1960 comic. With the Dark Night rises, i do not know what source was used, but i am totally asuming either it was another comic because Bane as never appeared in previous Batman films before, a far i am aware or nolan stuck to as near to the source material as possible

Its not going to top Health Ledgers performance, but you have to go in different directions and Nolan really has a great mind when it comes to film that i have seen.
To everyone that does not realise this, there is going to be another batman, the message is in the film.  The scene were the young cop flows his badge away on the bridge, symbolises the moment when, Commissioner Gordon, hands over the joker card to Batman in Batman begins, There is another chain of films to come.  I thought, why would he throw his badge away, there must be more going on and to come

Near the end of the film, when the woman  in the office says, why don't use use your birth name.........Robin, the penny dropped the size of Britian, i thought holy shit, you must be joking, Robin????

As a film fan, i thought what are they going to do here. Tom Hardy plays Bane very well, although i have no idea what people were talking about with his voice. I have seen a couple of reviews about it. Everyone was saying his voice was muffled? what are you deaf, even in a cinema? Although they could have given him more voice movement as half the time it looks overdubbed as he as a mask on. I did pay attentioned his his throat movements as i thought they had done a Darth Vader.

Overall, a great film, one of the best and it balances very well with The Dark Night. People might say, one was better than the other, but to be far, if you get lot of praise for one film, its not the matter of topping it, its all in the storyline, just got to manipulate

Dj Readman .. i film fan ;)

Independent Special. Musicians that have left an impression

I know it is the time of year for top 10s and things, but i am always looking for something different in a this is it

Tonight( Thursday 27th December) I am live on Music World Radio and joined by, Raymond Rowe, once more, from New Usb on Skype, to talk about and play the bands, solo artists, all Independents that have left an impression on us in 2012.

There are many and some will be played that we have known for long. But the theme is, Left an impression.
We have, Jet Noir, Naked Lunch, Glowpeople, Vinnie Zummo, Silverspark, The Strummer Room Poject and many other artists who have kind of made the grade.
This is not a competition, but talking to fans and releasing fine music are two of the qualities and reason for the musicians on the list

This is the list i have compiled for your to view here

Not all bands have this ability, but many have and impresses many people and we have seen fan comment direct

Streaming on  Music World Radio    also on New Usb

Music in 2012

Many people write the top 10s and things down. This is slightly different, this is the music that has impressed me the most

Against All Will

One the area i like about this Rock band from America is that they listen to their fans and so does their publicist, Yvonne Laughin, who does a great job in social media. who i get the songs from.  All the members are from former well known rock bands themselves, but they knows the fans are their bread and butter.
Their music is pretty dam good. At the start, i did not know what to expect, very commerical, leaning to darker rock

Jet Noir

This may seen an obvious choice, but her new album really impressed me as she has done something different and broadened her appear, which for the most part did not happened upto this point.  As well as working hard as hell and mainly works on her own, shes a real trooper. Yes, she looks dam fine, but looks is only the outside, its the inside what creates the beats
Besides that, finally interviewed her this year for two hours. Considering her phobias and so on, in my opinion, that was a very brave move on her part

Vinnie Zummo

Never heard of this guy before, but i have no.  I send me a lot of material and really blew me away. His albums are full of styles from Metal to Country, is just really suprised me. American musicians who puts a lot of effort into his production and it shows

Dog Food

The band from Birmingham came down for a full band Acoustic performance in September.  Finally met, RIchard Temple, aka, Magick Temple from Spain after 4 years. the band have been down before, but the first time me wife had met them
The comes down and Dr Jet, bought a banquet with them. We also found out he had an ear infection.  These guys are really troupers, even coming over an hour to perform on the radio

I was would say its rare to find a band this good in the sound the perform and produce. Matt and Carey, w ho perform Rock pop songs, all original music, really have something going here. I was very impressed by the shear quality of the music, their attitude and warmth towards fans.  The have ep at the moment, life the fuse and every songs is just quality....You rare get that..If you put on gigs, book them

Repulse Monkey & Shes Excited

I few people i noticed like this and i agree.  I am very picky with dance music, because many artists just mix, which gets boring.  When you are creative with dance it gets really interesting.  This duo impressed me with the song, Pink Noise with a mixture of dubstep style dance tunes and great vocals by Shes Excited

Naked Lunch

To say this band has a lot of history is a completely understatement.  Got to know Tony Mayo through Jet Noir, who brought him along when i interviewed her in October.  The band began in the late 70s and one of the acts that introduced the world to dirty electro music, whatever you want to call it.  They recently reformed at gthe Club Noir venue in London and the history is beginning to unfold.  Tony has recently recorded new material and aparantly rerecordings older material

Yolanda R

I recently interviewed this fine singer live from New York. Got to know her through New Usbs Raymond Rowe and one of the bet singers, interviewed her because i loves her powerful singer voice, very reminscent of Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston. She has her own unique style and the recording are evident of the fact she not scared to try something different

Combine Ozric Tenticle elements with Acid Jazz, 6 muscians and you have one of the best bands i have heard in a long time. I had a chat with Nick Raybould( Drummer) and Chris( Keyboards) At the beginning of the year. Every week they do a tight song 3 hour jam and Nick records it, What comes out is beautiful floating sounds and just great to float away to. They are mainly instrumental, with some vocals in areas or effect. They release their debut album a few months ago and is on amazon at the moment

The Cherry Bluestorms

Another duo, this time, American.  Deborah Gee and Glen Laughin who go under the band name have one of the best sounds i have ever heard.  Its Rock pop sounds, with Transit if Venus album.  When you listen to an album and you get a warm feeling from, is, you the band have done something right. It all about the song writting, great engineering and lovely singer by Deborah

The Strummer Room Project

I few things come from this musicians..Yes, one main guy, who is local, Chris Oats.  Guitarist, who loves colabrating with muscians, hence the name he gave himself. He produced songs with a few people, including former bands mates and i have played many on my show, which have been exclusives.   I first met Chris, when he join the band i am in, The Doolallays, as the bass player.  I then met one of his colaborators, Chris Saffle, who is also a great guy and fine producer from Texas

Little Stevie and the Fatratz

Out of the band, many people go to know, Steven Pridemore, aka Little Stevie. Semi retired muscian, who dusted of many great songs that i have played and been recording many with other muscians or rerecording older songs.  Great musicians, always around, and many like his music which at the start was an oddball mixture, then everyone found out about his electric acoustic work and got hooked

There have been many more, but some musicians i have known for more than a year so they do not count.  These are the main muscians that have impressed me, i have played, met, performed and interviewed. There are more, but it would turn into a long list.  I may add another a couple in the next week, but for the moment i have chosen the ones above

Thankyou for reason and Merry Christmas from the Dj Readman :)

By My Music launch and Raymond Rowe chat

By My Music is a brand new ' non commission' store run by New Usb, to sell artists music.

This can be either a single or an album.  Aside from that, the only cut from any sales is what paypal take, which is connected to your sales, Then is is advisable to set up a Micropayment account or upgrade your current paypal account
One the launch show we had Raymond Rowe, the founder of New Usb, talking about the site, reason for setting it up and about the music site inbetween some music from artists played that are on the site

Raymond knows that Independent artists struggle to make money from music. After all its a craft like any other. If the music is good enough, people will buy it

More live performances

In General
This was mentioned as idea to me before and then recently began to do stream live shows on New Usb which is channeling one stream from Music World Radio.
I can and have had live performers here. The band, Dog Food performed live in September nd LIVE 'In House interview with Jet Noir, accompanied by Tony Mayo in October.

The room i have ain't that big and I know from watching the New Usb live channels, Raymond Rowe has musican performing live in Manchester on a regular basis.  He asked me this year about interviewing a band there and me interviewing them Skype, but at the time i did not have the dualcast in mind and i could not broadcast on two stations on seperate days

Now, since i have been doing the dualcast,, i bought today ( 12th December) and talking to Ray about it

The Plan

A band will perform in Manchester, England and i will interview and channel the audio through Skype, here in Banbury, England.  It may seem a long way round a radio event, but getting up to Manchester possibly once a month is not possible and all these run on a zero budget, unless someone wants to sponser my show :)

More information will be coming, but for the moment, thats the plan

( Album review) Blackdoghat - Planetarium

To the Northen Sea,  2. Drown in Me,  3. Before my Eyes,  4. Angels of Us
 5. Electric,  6. Sunday Papers,  7. Some Things are Worth Living 4,  8. One Last Question
 9. Dreams

Acoustic duo and some of the catchiest song i have ever heard.  There are many acoustic artists out there, some more unique with their voice or the way they play their guitar.
The catchy riff on this album reminds of how Paul McCartney writes as he well know for his catch riff and melodys
Many people love Electric, which is my favourite, with a great opening. The great bassline ges to the song, To The Northern Sea.  Another fan favourite is Sunday Papers, which is nice mellow affair.  You can imaging John lounging in a chair, plugging his guitar on a sofa.
Every song, many acoustic, but all diferent and different moods.
This all comes down to great writing from John Sage from London and Matt Gkikas from Greece.  This was released in 2011, all potential singles in old fashion terms. This is all professional studio recorded and everything sounds crisp. The studio version of Electric has come extra layers, which you might not here live, like the Thunder opening, but its all Acoustic based and some of the best you will hear

( Music Revew) Sliverspark - Life the Fuse

The Ep Light the Fuse, Something about You, Don't Bring Me Down and The Theif

This suprised me a little. Power Pop/ Rock duo from Daventry, England.
I have very chosey with music, even with songs i radioplay, but when it comes to catchy songs, you can't go not wrong with Silverspark and it a a fine ep, which is very commercial sounding and what Pop rock should be in the general chart
Some great song writing here and Careys vocals are being compared to Sharleen from, Texas, for some stunning singing and goes very nicely with Matts guitar playing
Light the Fuse, is my favourite for being he most powerful of the ep and aparantly many people are picking up on this.
Every song could be a single, and very professional recording, sound great and you can hear the lyrics
On very few occasions i say buy it, on this occasion, buy it.
Matt and Carey are making a great effort to get known and their music speaks volumes
You can go to their website and listen before buying or you can request on my radio shows

My Recordings (Update)

I have not recorded much recently as i didn't want to do too much in one go.
As i have said on previous blogs, this started out as a radio show segment, reading out poetry. As it turns out i put guitar to the lyrics and thats how Pirates in My Sink come about
There is kind of a sequal, Pirate Dance, which i have got the lyrics for, just got to arrange it

I have recorded so far, Pirates its my sink, which was voted for on Music World Radio top 20 chart and stayed there for 3 months.  I have not had any sales for the song, although it is for sale.  I have not promoted it much as my energies have been on other things recently and you can't do everything

Motorcycle Man was the next poem i put some time into.  This is the next song i began to make a video for as it kind of made sense.  This is the also the first time i collected footage from non copyrighted sources and got permission for other footage
This also got remixed by local musician SRP and the video is in the process of being edited

I have also recorded, Where's My Vegetarian, which is like a dark horror about vegetables.  I also recorded two of my own after a while.

The first one was totally improvised. This was a vampire song, Their Fangs.  This idea come from seeing a lot of True Blood, which is an American TV series.  The song is not based on anything in particular, but has a, what the media feeds you, ring to it and i had Billy Bragg in my head at the time. I went back, re wrote the entire song and uploaded a one mic version

The next one and last one i recorded for a competition i created but never happened, but a song called, The Independents. This is about indie bands and what was intially going to be my new radio jingle.  It is up on Soundcloud still, but i might just make it another song, probably next  year

I have a s profile page up on New Usb, which is a site and radio station purely for independent artists.
I like doing this and first time in a number of years i have recorded music. Since i broadcast on radio i utlised that oportunity and broadcasting live 20 minutes performances and played the recordings on the shows. Many people like, Pirates in My Sink and Motorcycle Man, which are both different songs

Want to support and next year i will be perfoming these. If you are interested in my performing these, which will be four songs maximum at the moment, although there are loads more i have not recorded yet, then let us know

All music, link and information are on my Facebook, here

( Album Review) The Vinyls - Catch ( 2012)

Artist:The Vinyls
Brighton, England
Sound: Vintage Pop

I love original or creative opening to albums. This made me smile as its made to sound like a radio jingle.. The end of the album, you hear the sound of stylus slipping of a record, marking  the end of an album, superb.
I was not expecting the recording quality i heard and how the band managed to capture the energy and a spark they found throughout the whole album

The Mocking song, is a perfect example of the the Jam sound.  The open reminded me straight away of, Eton Rifles. Another opening i like is Whos in Albert Square, with the cowbell and the bass guitar. Fixed to the floor is very 80s reminiscent with the bass guitar over someone clicking their fingers. There are a couple of lounger songs, which are near the end of the album, Ill be there Instead  and Please Just Be Yourself also has a blur feel to

 it..well captured
Just three the album

Music and video submission, we want them :)

Independent Variety Show

This is the show i present on Thursday nights.  I am still broadcast on Mwr, but now channel through, DM Radio, Hankypark Radio, GR broadcasting and New Usb Radio, through New Usb site, who support the Independent circuit worldwide.
As well the the show being uploaded as broadcast the day after live broadcast, it is also repeated Monday night 10pm until midnight on Gr broadcasting channel

Video Show

Ray, The owner of New Usb  and Glenn from About Time, present a live video show on New Usb, Tuesdays and Fridays on Grb TV, which is part of New Usb.   Since i am now being heard on this site and they are broadcasting the video show, i have began to submit music videos to their show, either to promote an upcoming radio show or a show i have broadcast that is being repeated there

There is a submission form, which i use and anyone else can use.
This does not have to be the exact song that i have played( Although it would help), as maybe there isn't one.  It can be live gig performance or a song from the same album.
If a band, or solo artist have a lots of video or fans uploaded some, i create a playlist on my own youtube channel, which i have been doing for many artists that submit, over the last few months

At the moment, the form does not refresh itself after the first video submission. This will no doubt be sorted out

Submission form

MC, Rapper, Hiphop

I have had a few submissions from rappers over the last two week and i guessing via seeing me on Twitter.
I just can't understand why a great scene, which some great legends has gotten so bad.

Going back 20 or so years or more infact, you have, Run DMC, Grandmaster flash, later on you have. The Beastie Boys and Busta Rhymes, two of my favourtes in fact. These guys are orginal. I got hocked on Busta for his speed, his videos, lyrics, he just puts some imagination into it.

The most recent Mc i have come across and we are going back two years now, Mc Comchemzi, kind of comic rap, some imagination and oustanding lyric flow..reminds me of how Beck works with like a play on words

Video of his

I have got this from listeners to some agree with me on this as well, if you an artists, go for something original, you own, not something that has been copied a thousand times....that what the scene has become.... a copy on top of a copy

I have had Youtube links and watched video. 95% of mixtapes, which i never bother with, because its just boring and when you do get a tune, its just niggers and bitches every 10 seconds, which is also getting boring, not entertaining and to be honest, its getting old

If you can't write more than 5 lines and make them different on a rap song, its just gets repeditive even in 3 minutes

For the moment, until something really well written comes along, i am not taking submission from rappers
