(Music Review) Blackdoghat - BARK! ep

Image
Nice experience to the ears from Blackdoghat, BARK! Here we have 6 songs, Already gone, Come to town, Drown in me, Just for the hell of it, Senseless and Soul on Fire, is a mixture of a rerecording from, Planetarium and songs that John has had recorded as demos and  rough ideas on Soundcloud. There are several differences to the first album. They have gone back to basics, less studio overdubbing with just Acoustic guitars, harmonies with Ian Nicholson and the introduction of Tine Wulf on, Cello from Germany. She was in the studio with them, no file sharing. One of the songs which works well with vocals guitar and the cello, is, Senseless, just a fantastic blend of string instruments.  Ever since i heard Ian and John together in singing harmony, they fit like a glove together. They bought this to the recordings. I love the crow effects at the beginning of, Soul on Fire. The song is about a hanging. Again, fabulous use of the cello and great harmonies by Ian...

We are now on the moving, Lock Stock and Barrel

Update Over the last few days I have been moving things into the flat.  We had a friend help us out with larger items, including a table and Tv. The only two major things now, are a bed and sofa, which we are buying new, and as reasonable as possible The net, I sorted out through Sky, which should be better. Although to my shock, I am unable to get Fibre Optic in this area, which is about of an arse, I have to say. I have seen a few people on social media, moving recently, One subject that came up was, redirecting mail.  The  Post Office actually charge  £30 for this. I am just going make a list of all the people/companies that send me mail and who I order through, including Amazon and change my address I have the weekend off and gradually moving throughout the weekend The extra When you move into a place, the extras are, water, electric and council tax. It's standard with any place you rent or however you arrange this.  I have no problem paying bills, as long a...

My experiences with phones

Over the last two years, I have gone through a few phones. I don't really go for a company, like many people do. I want the phone, that is flexible, and also long lasting, in terms of what the phone is made out of. I began with an iPhone 3GS, but 8 gb doesn't last long at all, in fact 8 gb is pointless.  My reasons for wanting a phone have changed over time. Originally, it was to test the experience.  I knew nothing of apps, other than the word, which is short for application. Gradually i found out that apps and the way they have been designed are one of the best software developments in modern times.  I prefer them to discs and they are fast for installing and deleting. My two main thoughts were space for all the apps and battery life, as screens were getting larger After having a number of phones, i realised, any phone under 16gb is pointless. The operating system takes up  3gb (The is no partition), you are not getting 16 gb at all. No one really tells you ...

Ides of March gig, The Flapper, 15th March

Image
We returned to, The Flapper, in Birmingham to watch a few electro sounding bands, including, Among the Echoes performance on a Saturday night This time, i filmed it all. I have enough memory and batteries, that can easily handle all the gig. I was planning to do on camera interviews, but that never happened. it just the way it goes. This was part of two day trip to Birmingham, as me and my wife, Rhonda, booked.  Thought it was a good idea to explore a bit.  We were going to go to a gig on Friday night, to see Drag, but we changed our minds. Its funny when you book a room to stay overnight, you don't really get a chance to use it much. The Holiday Inn, is really comfortable, which, we have stayed in before. This time we booked two night. This time we spent a bit more time in the room and went out for a late meal and explored the shops.  Birmingham  You get an urban part, that goes into a newly built part. Its not just the area around the Bullring as we thoug...

Naked Lunch 30 Years in Beyond Planets (Album Review of Beyond Planets)

Image
It's always a pleasure to receive music for radioplay.  When you get this kind of work, it's like, oooo, I have the album. This album embodies 30 years of work. The band have released singles in the past, but prefered not to  releasing anything.  How wrong their were.  Even Tony the singer realised this as he mentioned in the first interview i did with him and Jet on the radio The combination of re recorded classics, blowing the dust of lyrics, unfinished demos and brand new recordings, comes the long awaited electro album, that's looooong overdue I was suprised how well the rerecordings turned out, especially Rabies, which already has two versions The re recording are, La Femme, Rabies, Fade Away, Weekend, Behaviour and Slipping Again. The new songs are, Alone, Glow, We Are, Emotion Terminal( Quiet apt that one i should think), No two ways about it, this is a huge undertaking, even by this legendary bands standards. Bringing them up to date with new r...

Phones

I never thought I would get another iPhone. The beginning I love Samsung phones and love the Galaxy note range. I had the note 1for some time and I was going to stick with it for a while. At work, I tether to my ipad2 to listen the radio station,  Jack Fm a well as Music World Radio. For some reason, I am unable to receive Jack on a general radio, which is rather odd . Over the last couple of weeks, it appears that I have been wearing down my phone.  The place where you insert the charger was not holding as firmly as it was. At first, I thought it was the charging point, then I saw that the phone shell had warn down. First time I have ever had that problem.  I was going to get another, Samsung, phone.  Adding to that fact that, the phone headphone jack has issues with sound, your easily look at half the cost of the phone to replace( Got mine from Ebay  for £200), it was best to get another phone. At first, I thought, either a Nexus phone or go with another Samsu...
